I have long suspected that the success of the standard model was due to "curve fitting" - meaning that you fit the theory to exactly fit your current measurements. This is a classic post-diction and not prediction scenario. So, of course, the standard model is the most accurate model ever because it was specifically designed to meet all known emperical measurements. So, it can be rather embarassing that your newest and best measurments aren't the same as what you designed your theory to "predict". I would suspect that there will be other similar discoveries, but the standard model has painted itself into a corner.
