I would agree that all this "going your way" is self delusional. There is an inherent need for us to seek out and be with the opposite sex. It is a need like the need to eat and breath and go pee. When we don't meet that need we just get hungrier and hungrier until we starve to death as skin and bones. No amount of "self improvement" is going to make that go way. So to think you can go your own way would be like saying you don't need to pee - ever. This is extremely self delusional. Maybe there are some extreme people that can truly do it, but the rest are lying to themselves and the worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves.

But this is leading to what I see is the major reason why people stay single - they're just not looking anymore. Quite frankly, I don't see any women making any kind of effort to look like they even like men. Going to the gym, everyone has their eyes down in their phone wearing giant earmuffs to put a 6 foot wall of concrete between them and anyone else. Absolutely zero to negative interest. Eye contact is to be avoided at all costs. And these are the high value people who actually have something significantly in common with each other and should be interested in meeting with each other over fitness.

Why am I single? Because everyone has been fooled into "going their own way" and most everyone shows little interest in getting to know each other. The sobering statistic is the one about how many single and available people are not even seeking a casual relationship - not even a booty call. Something like 60% - which reduces the already tiny pool to something vanishingly small.
